10 marathons! What an accomplishment. It's nice to read between the lines your gratitude for the experience, even if it was painful. Great writing by the way too! Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful experience for you. I am so sorry and very disappointed that the after race was so bad. You'd think they'd have this down to a science and have worked out all these kinks.
It was fun to track you during your run and thank you so much for sharing with all of us that weren't there. Surely you could hear all of us cheer you on!!

That's awful! When you retell this story years from now, you can talk about that time you "almost died right before the NYC marathon."

Glad to see things are turning up for you. Good luck!

Thanks Dad! This was not due to under-hydration though. In fact, I had to stop in the bushes a couple times during this run! However, I usually have both water AND Gatorade, or another kind of electrolyte replacement drink, in my bottles on my fuel belt for long runs. On this day, I only had water. Combined with my breakfast errors, and being out during the hottest part of the day, it was a bad combination...and a good reminder!

Just read your euphoric run post and found it inspiring. Then went to some of your other posts and found this one. Remember, it only takes 6% loss of body fluids to induce disorientation and poor decisions, so keep the fluids coming. Surprising you got into this as I know you try to hydrate all the time. Glad you are okay and getting in some great, inspiring runs. Keep up the great work! I have referred people at work to your site for tips and inspiration.

Mr.Pugh, Mrs. Reh's third grade class was shocked after we did the math. We figured out you have 40 marathons to complete in 10 years. Our first question is, that sounds expensive, where are you going to get the money? And does your family get to go with you?

Sincerely,
Mrs Reh's Class

Hello Mrs. Reh's class! Thanks for checking out my blog and supporting my effort! I'm 39 years old right now, and turning 40 in December. The NYC Marathon will be my 10th state completed, and that happens before I turn 40. So, I'll have 40 states remaining, and 10 years to complete them before I turn 50 in December of 2021. I know you are a smart class - so, how many marathons do I need to average per year in order to reach my goal?

Mrs. Reh's class would like to wish you luck training for the New York Marathon. We do have a question for you. How old ARE you? We are curious if you are going to make your goal of 50 states, 50 marathons, by the time you are 50.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Reh's 3rd Grade Class
