The first miles of 2013 have officially gone into the training journal today. Yes, you read that correctly. I know it’s halfway through February, and yes, this was my first run of the year.
In fact, it’s my first run since November, and only my third run since my last marathon on September 8th. This post-race funk was a doozy, but I’m gonna start chipping away at it.
It felt good to get out the door and get some miles in…but, man, did I feel rough. Only 3.6 miles, and about 9:55/mi average…yet my heart rate was averaging in the 160s. Just six months ago, running at that heart rate would have put me at about a 7:30/mi average pace.
Wonder what my resting heart rate will tell me in the morning!?
