Sunday run – week 3
By Kevin | August 3, 2008
- Start time: 12:15pm (ugh!)
- Temp: 94
- Distance: 6.3 miles
- Total Time: 1:10
- Overall Avg. Pace: 11:19/mi*
- Miles this week so-far: 6.3
- 2008 miles to-date: 595.5
HOT! But, otherwise a decent run through Rothman & Kneebone Open Space trails, and Arapahoe Ridge Trail around Erie Lake. Incorporated a 60-second walk-break at each mile, and drank a TON of water (about 6oz. at every mile). Also poured water over my head a couple times. Mile splits: 9.53, 10.06, 10.24, 10.06, 9.41, 16.11 (stood in some sprinklers for a few minutes to cool off), 4.02.
Didn’t sleep particularly well last night, so I missed my window of opportunity to run earlier this morning before the kids were awake. This was not the 8-mile run I was scheduled to do, but at least I got out there despite the heat, and spent the time on my feet. I really need to dial into my morning routine again. Especially since we’re at day 21-in-a-row of temps above 90. It was 104-degrees yesterday, and 102 the day before. No relief in sight, and I’m missing my training partner, Veya. I hope she can get out and run with me again soon!
