In my relatively young quest to complete a marathon in each of the 50 states before I turn 50 (my 50-in-50-by-50 project), I’ve met a number of people asking me if I’m blogging about my project. I guess I’ve grown tired of answering those questions with a sheepish, “no.” So, I’m launching the Pugger Runner blog today (January 1, 2008)!
The name is just what came to my head on a whim. “Pugger” is a nickname I’ve often endured, coming from childhood mispronunciations of my last name “Pugh” (rhymes with Hugh). I can’t tell you the number of times a new teacher in school would call out attendance and say, “Kevin Pug?” As Forrest Gump would say, “That’s all I have to say about that.”
I’ll share what I remember about each of my pre-blog marathons (4 in 4 states, 2002-2007) and will report continuously on additional marathons as this blog, and my journey, continues. You can see my updated race record here, and my Marathon Maniacs introductory interview here. More to come…as I get used to the whole blogging thing. I’m typically not very good at routine tasks, so this may be a challenge for me to keep up, but I’ll do my best…if for no other reason but to keep a good record of my adventures. But hey, if you read it and enjoy it, that’s all the better. Hearing feedback from readers will certainly inspire me to keep blogging…and to keep running! Until next time, run long and recover! – Kevin
